This Cookie Policy explains how Happy MOMents CIO ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies on the website at happymoments.org.uk ("the Website"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website's owner.

Some cookies are "session cookies" and are deleted when you close your browser; others are "persistent cookies" that stay on your device until they expire or you remove them.

The cookies we use

We try to keep the Website as light-touch as possible. We do not use any analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on our public pages, and we do not share information with social networks or marketing platforms via cookies.

The only cookies we set are strictly necessary cookies that allow parts of the Website to function. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent.

Strictly necessary cookies

  • Admin authentication cookies: set only when an authorised volunteer signs in to our admin dashboard at /admin. They keep the signed-in session active for up to 8 hours (or 30 days if "Remember me" is selected) and are deleted when the volunteer signs out. Visitors to the public website are never set these cookies.

Cookies set by other services

If you click through to one of our community groups on WhatsApp, or follow us on Facebook, Instagram or X, those platforms will set their own cookies on your device once you arrive on their site. We do not control or have access to those cookies. Each platform's own cookie and privacy policies apply:

Embedded YouTube videos, where used in editor-managed content, are loaded through youtube-nocookie.com so that no tracking cookies are set unless you actively press play on a video.

Managing or removing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. The "Help" or "Settings" menu in your browser will explain how. Be aware that disabling cookies may stop some parts of the Website (notably the admin dashboard) from working as expected.

Useful guidance is available from:

Changes to this policy

If we ever introduce additional cookies, for example optional analytics, we will update this page and ask for your consent first via an on-page banner. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when the latest version came into force.
